Sole Legal Counsel

The company:
This listed Australian mining company has a significant portfolio of assets with both global and Australian operations. With continuing growth and expansion plans and strong ESG credentials, this is a career defining opportunity to lead the legal function. 

About the role:
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with key members of the exectutive and senior leadership team, your day to day role will include:

• negotiation and drafting contracts;
• working closely with the operational and corporate teams on a broad range of matters impacting the business from supply/transport/logistics through to corporate JVs;
• advising on a new mine development;
• corporate advisory on new deals;
• managing external counsel on litigation and dispute management; and
• assisting on business as usual legal matters including insurance, property, company policy/procedure, compliance etc.

Skills/Experience:
To be considered for this role you will have: 

• 5-10 years’ PAE in projects, contruction, energy and resources or commercial law;
• exposure to mining/resources/major projects will be highly regarded;
• demonstrated experience in-house is preferred (including secondment experience);
• a commercial approach and good communication skills;
• the ambition to work towards General Counsel / Commercial Manager.
