About the opportunity:
You will be a crucial team member, providing comprehensive accounting support to the team and management. Your daily tasks will include:

    • Trust Accounting: Manage EFT payments and receipts, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with accounting standards.
    • Bank Reconciliations: Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure all accounts are up-to-date and discrepancies are promptly resolved.
    • Debt Collection: Oversee the collection of outstanding debts, working with clients to ensure timely payments and maintaining accurate records.
    • Invoice Processing: Process incoming and outgoing invoices, ensuring all details are correct and payments are accurately logged.
    • Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable: Manage accounts receivable, ensuring payments are collected on time. Similarly, handle accounts payable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices.
    • Creditors and Debtors Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile creditors and debtors, ensuring all outstanding balances are properly accounted for.
    • Archiving: Maintain an organised and accurate archive of accounting records, both physical and electronic, to ensure easy access and compliance with legal and company requirements.
    • Banking: Assist with general banking duties, including occasional outside work, to ensure the smooth operation of financial transactions.
    • Accounting Support: Provide ongoing accounts support to staff and management, ensuring timely responses to queries and assistance with any accounting-related matters.
    • Ad-Hoc Accounting Functions: Assist with other accounting functions as required, helping with various tasks to ensure the efficient operation of the finance department.

Skills/Experience:
Our client’s ideal candidate will have:

  • Accounts experience: Experience working in accounts, with a understanding of the financial processes within the legal industry, would be highly regarded but not essential.
  • Bookkeeping Knowledge: A solid foundation in bookkeeping principles, with the ability to manage and process financial transactions effectively.
  • Strong Numerical Skills: Excellent math abilities, with a keen eye for identifying and correcting numerical discrepancies.
  • Computer & Organisational Proficiency: Exceptional computer skills, particularly in MS Excel, and strong organizational abilities to efficiently manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to work, ensuring the integrity of data and accuracy in all aspects of the job.
  • Accounting Software Experience: Practical experience using accounting software to manage financial records and transactions.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced environment: The ability to thrive in a high-energy environment with competing priorities, meeting deadlines and managing time effectively.
  • Confidentiality & sensitivity: Skilled in handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Flexible & aproachable attitude: A positive and approachable demeanor, willing to adapt and collaborate with colleagues across all levels.
  • Professional communication skills: Clear, concise, and professional communication, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
