A rare opportunity to build an in-house legal career in paradise
This is a genuinely rare in-house opportunity for a lawyer with 2–5 years PAE to join a high-performing legal team supporting one of the region’s most critical infrastructure assets.
Based on the Sunshine Coast, this role offers exceptional variety, exposure, and the lifestyle benefits that only a coastal location can provide.
You’ll work directly with a highly respected General Counsel (who we placed), known for being commercial, supportive and invested in developing their people. The legal work is broad, meaningful and central to the organisation’s operations and long-term strategy.
About the Role
Reporting to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, the Assistant Legal Counsel provides commercial legal advice, supports governance frameworks, and helps manage contracts, policy, compliance and risk functions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Drafting, reviewing and amending commercial contracts and procurement documentation.
- Assisting with commercial negotiations.
- Maintaining contract templates and legal documentation.
- Providing pragmatic, business-focused legal advice aligned with strategic objectives.
- Conducting legal research and preparing reports, submissions and recommendations.
- Supporting corporate governance frameworks, including drafting and reviewing policies.
- Advising on regulatory obligations and supporting regulatory inquiries.
- Contributing to procurement, risk and compliance, including maintaining risk registers.
- Supporting management of insurance programs.
- Maintaining accurate legal and governance records.
- Providing company secretarial support where required.
