Insurance litigation, without the law firm treadmill. This role is designed for experienced defendant insurance lawyers who enjoy the strategy, advice and litigation but are tired of the traditional law firm model. Our client operates differently.
Rather than high-volume file churn and relentless billable targets, lawyers here work closely with insurers and underwriters, providing early strategic input on claims while still running complex litigation where needed.
It’s a hybrid model that sits somewhere between private practice and in-house.
For many lawyers it’s the best of both worlds.
The role
You’ll manage a portfolio of professional indemnity and public liability matters, with a strong advisory component. Work includes:
- Defending professional negligence claims across construction, property, engineering, IT, finance and other professions
- Coverage advice and policy interpretation
- Input into claims strategy with insurers and underwriters
- Managing litigation where matters proceed to court
- Direct engagement with insurers and insured professionals
The work is intellectually strong and varied. But the environment is far more balanced than traditional insurance practices.
Who this will suit
- 4–10 years PAE in defendant insurance litigation
- Experience in professional indemnity, public liability or general insurance
- Lawyers comfortable running matters and engaging directly with clients
- Someone who enjoys the advisory side of insurance work, not just file management
