The firm:
This firm based in Brisbane CBD has a near 20 year track record of success. With a very strong practice across a number of areas, the firm’s commercial practice has organically grown. The firm is now looking to add a Principal to head up the commercial work. This could be a Senior Associate or Special Counsel looking to step up or a Principal looking to make a lateral move.
About the role:
With a loyal and consistent client base of ASX listed, large SME, banks, finance professionals etc. the firm has a very consistent flow of work. That includes commercial work that currently feeds to a small commercial section which does not have a Principal at this time. This is where you come in, playing a key role in managing work, the team and further developing existing warm relationships. You work will include:
- work typically will include a broad array of commercial contracts including partnership agreements, shareholder agreements, joint venture arrangements, business sale/acquisition related advice and transaction work; leasing advice and a small amount of acquisition/sale property work; loan and security documentation review and advice, asset protection and structuring advice, IP and IT related contracts, franchise agreements, etc;
- working with the other Principals to enhance client service offerings and increase commercial work flows; and
- building a team by ensuring excellent client outcomes and providing a great team environment for your lawyers.
Skills/Experience:
To be considered for this role you will:
- already be at Senior Associate, Special Counsel or Principal/Partner level in commercial law;
- have strong client relationship management skills – this is not a cold BD role, it focusses on client development of existing relationships;
- have experience in mentoring and developing staff (currently there is an SA and junior in the team); and
- have the right fit and attitude to work with the existing team – technically strong, approachable, friendly and with a strong client outcome focus.
